Livin’ la Pura Vida – Eating in Costa Rica

Gosstronomy is a bit short on words this week, as Sarah and I are on the road in Costa Rica. We’ve eaten everywhere from the Volcano town of La Fortuna to the cloud forests of Monteverde and Santa Helena and now the warm beaches of Manuel Antonio – not to mention plenty of ziplines, hikes through national parks and watersports to burn it all off. Mostly.

I’ll share some food highlights soon, but the monkeys wrestling on the roof of my hotel are distracting me, and an ass-whooping from an overturned whitewater raft has my tailbone too sore for me to sit in front of the laptop for long. So hasta luego and expect a more detailed Costa Rica post soon.

According to the New Economics Foundation and their annual Happy Planet Index published just recently, Costa Ricans are the happiest people on the planet. The index measures a combination of material well being, envornmental quality and a subjective assessment of how happy people say they feel. So there it is mate, it’s official, you guys are on holiday in paradise. Soak it up.
